A stone stupa on a mountain trail beneath snowbound Himalayan peaks

Origin & Philosophy

Our Story.
The lake that gave us our name.

Where it begins.

The Himalayas have always been a place people go to find something. Some seek altitude. Some seek silence. Some seek clarity that the valley floor cannot offer. Kajin Sara Lake, at 5,200 meters, above the treeline and above the noise, has been a destination for those who make the climb.

That image stuck with us while we planned this café. We wanted to make a cup that rewards the time you give it, in a room that feels a world away from the parking lot outside.

Why here.

Life around here moves fast. Commutes, commitments, full calendars. We picked our corner of it because of that pace, not in spite of it. The people who need a still moment the most are usually the ones moving quickest.

Kajin Sara Coffee is for them. Real hospitality on the way through your morning, no flight required.

The coffee.

Our beans come from Grace Street Coffee Roasters in Georgetown, a partnership built on a shared respect for craft and traceability. We pull espresso on a La Marzocco Linea Classic, and we take our time with it.

What we chase first is body, texture, and finish, the parts of a coffee you feel before you stop to analyze anything. The tasting notes can come later.

Hospitality as orientation.

In Nepali and South Asian culture, a guest is not a customer. They are an honored presence, a reason to bring out your best. We carry that orientation into every shift. We remember names. We notice when someone looks like they need a minute. We don't rush the table.

True hospitality is invisible. It lands before you know to credit it. That is what we are after every single morning we open the door.

What comes next.

We are opening in Summer 2026, with hours of 6:30 am to 3 pm to start. Community events, cupping sessions, and longer hours are all in the plan as we work toward a café that is genuinely part of this community.

Come find us. Stay longer than you planned.

What we stand for

Three principles.
One experience.

Principle I

Intentional Slowness

We are not built for rush hour throughput. A good café gives people room to sit with their time, and every design choice in this space works toward that one idea.

Principle II

South Asian Hospitality

A guest is never just a transaction. We learn names, we pay attention, and we skip the fuss. That is not a policy we posted somewhere. It is how we hire and how we train.

Principle III

Uncompromising Craft

Premium without the pretension. We chose the La Marzocco and Grace Street for what they put in the cup, not for the names. The quality should hold up on its own without us talking about it.
